Unique Selling Proposition (USP)

A unique selling proposition, or USP, states a meaningful reason a customer might choose one offer over comparable alternatives.

A unique selling proposition, or USP, states a meaningful reason a customer might choose one offer over comparable alternatives. It should point to a real, supportable difference, such as a specific service specialization, process, or convenience. A handyman business that handles a clearly defined class of small repairs may be able to communicate that focus without claiming to be the best at everything. A value proposition is broader: it explains the overall benefit customers receive. A USP places more emphasis on differentiation. If every competitor could honestly use the same claim, the statement may be a generic benefit rather than a compelling unique selling proposition.
