Workflow Automation
Workflow automation uses software rules and connections to move repetitive steps, information, or approvals through a process with less manual intervention.
Workflow automation turns a repeatable sequence of tasks into a documented software process. A website form can create a CRM record, alert the right employee, schedule a follow-up, and mark the record as resolved after a customer replies. Those actions may involve several applications, but each step needs an explicit trigger, data mapping, owner, and handling rule for errors.
The best place to start is a stable task with clear inputs and a measurable outcome. Record the existing workflow, remove needless steps, and decide what still requires human judgment. Then test duplicated submissions, missing phone numbers, integration outages, and consent preferences. Automation should provide logging and a way to retry or correct a failed action instead of silently losing an enquiry.
A plumbing company might automate appointment reminders while leaving unusual job pricing to an experienced dispatcher. This is different from adding a chatbot everywhere or buying a large CRM merely because it offers automation. A successful workflow reduces avoidable work while preserving accountability, data privacy, and the ability for customers to reach a person when the process fails.
