WordPress Child Theme
A WordPress child theme inherits functionality and styling from a parent theme while allowing selected modifications to be maintained separately.
A WordPress child theme inherits functionality and styling from a parent theme while allowing selected modifications to be maintained separately. A designer may use one to adjust typography, templates, or styles without editing the parent theme directly. For a small cleaning business, that separation can make routine parent-theme updates less likely to overwrite custom changes, although compatibility testing is still necessary. Not every WordPress customization requires a child theme; site editing tools or a plugin may be more suitable for some changes. A child theme is not a replacement for backups, security updates, or an organized development process, and its continued compatibility must be checked.
