Website Search Filters
Website search filters narrow a set of results using selected attributes, such as service type, project category, or location.
Website search filters narrow a set of results using selected attributes, such as service type, project category, or location. They usually work after a visitor has searched or opened a collection. For a landscaping portfolio, a visitor might filter completed projects to see patios rather than lawn maintenance. Filters differ from on-site search, which accepts a query and finds matching content. Small business sites with only a few pages may not need filters at all; additional controls can make simple navigation more complicated. If filters are used, their labels, selected states, and result counts should be understandable, keyboard-accessible, and easy to reset.
