Website Redirect Testing
Website redirect testing checks whether old or changed web addresses send visitors and search engines to the intended destination.
Website redirect testing checks whether old or changed web addresses send visitors and search engines to the intended destination. After a redesign, a former service URL might need to lead to the most relevant new page rather than the homepage. Tests should check the destination, HTTP status, unwanted redirect chains, loops, and whether links still work on mobile devices. A single successful browser visit is not enough when a site has many migrated URLs. Redirect testing follows a redirect map, but it is not the same as designing that map. Its purpose is to catch routing mistakes before customers encounter missing pages or irrelevant destinations.
