A website handoff is the organized transfer of an agreed website project from its builder to the business or team responsible for using it. Depending on the contract, the handoff may include administrator access, domain and hosting details, editable content, design assets, documentation, and guidance for making routine updates. A cleaning company should also know how contact forms deliver messages and who is responsible for backups or software changes. Receiving a live website is not necessarily the same as receiving control over every account or licensed asset. Website ownership concerns rights and control; handoff concerns the practical steps and materials needed to operate the finished site.
