Website Database

A website database holds structured information that an application needs to store, retrieve, or update.

A website database holds structured information that an application needs to store, retrieve, or update. Appointment requests, customer accounts, and service availability may live in a database, while the page design determines how people interact with that information. Not every website needs one; a straightforward service site can publish content without managing a separate application database. A database is also not a substitute for a backup. Access controls, retention rules, and recovery procedures matter when records contain customer information. When evaluating a website proposal, ask what information is stored, who can access it, and how it will be maintained.
