Website Backup
A website backup is a saved copy of the files, content, and data needed to recover a site after accidental deletion, technical failure, or another incident.
A website backup is a saved copy of the files, content, and data needed to recover a site after accidental deletion, technical failure, or another incident. Depending on the website, that may include databases, uploaded images, configuration, and custom code. Backups should be stored securely and, ideally, separately from the system they protect. Just having a backup file is not enough: businesses also need to know whether it is recent, complete, and possible to restore. For a service company that relies on online inquiries, a recovery plan can reduce disruption when something goes wrong. Backup is one part of website maintenance, not a guarantee against every loss.
