WCAG Conformance Level for Small Business
A WCAG conformance level identifies which Web Content Accessibility Guidelines success criteria a website satisfies; business size does not create a separate WCAG standard.
Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) use conformance levels A, AA, and AAA. Under WCAG 2.2, Level AA requires satisfying applicable Level A and AA success criteria, while AAA adds the AAA criteria. There is no special technical WCAG level that a small business can claim solely because of its size. Legal requirements, contractual standards, and accessibility priorities vary by jurisdiction and context.
A local cleaning company's website should consider core tasks such as reading service descriptions, navigating by keyboard, submitting a quote request, and understanding form errors. A team may target WCAG 2.2 AA and audit complete page flows rather than assume a plugin or overlay makes every page conformant. Accessibility work includes content, design, components, third-party widgets, and ongoing updates.
An automated checker is useful for locating some detectable failures, but it cannot establish full conformance. For instance, judging whether button labels make sense or error recovery is genuinely usable requires additional assessment. The conformance framework is already covered by the existing glossary term “WCAG Conformance Levels.” This small-business phrasing should remain a scope or merge candidate unless it answers a substantially separate question supported by the published term's full content. No independent public page should be authorized on wording alone.
