Virtual Estimate
A virtual estimate is a preliminary service quote prepared remotely from information such as photos, video, measurements, or an online customer conversation.
A virtual estimate lets a customer and a service provider discuss a potential job without an initial in-person visit. The business may ask for photos, a video walkthrough, rough measurements, property access details, and the result the customer wants. This can speed the first response and help determine whether the job is suitable for a fixed quote or requires a site inspection.
Not every job can be priced accurately from a screen. Hidden damage, safety hazards, inaccessible equipment, material conditions, and permit requirements may be impossible to evaluate remotely. A clear estimate should say what information it relies on, what work is included or excluded, how long pricing remains valid, and which discoveries could change the price. If the quote is only a range, label it as such and explain when a final price will be offered.
For a cleaning business, a short video might be enough to estimate a routine apartment visit. For major tree removal, electrical work, or structural repair, safety and site conditions can justify an in-person assessment. A virtual estimate is a method for gathering evidence and communicating price—not an automatic legally binding contract or a guarantee of final cost.
