Viewport Meta Tag
The viewport meta tag is an HTML instruction that helps a mobile browser determine how to size and scale a web page's visible area.
The viewport meta tag is an HTML instruction that helps a mobile browser determine how to size and scale a web page's visible area. A common responsive setting uses width=device-width and initial-scale=1 so the layout viewport matches the device's CSS-pixel width instead of a wider virtual page. This setting works with responsive CSS; it does not replace fluid layouts, accessible controls, or image sizing. Without suitable viewport settings, a phone may display tiny text or a zoomed-out desktop design. Avoid disabling pinch-to-zoom with user-scalable=no or restrictive scaling options: limiting zoom can create serious barriers for people with low vision, even though some browsers ignore those restrictions. Check actual pages on mobile devices and at increased zoom rather than treating the presence of a viewport tag as proof of responsiveness or accessibility.
