Tracking Pixel

A tracking pixel is a small resource or tracking implementation used to signal that a page was viewed or an event occurred.

A tracking pixel is a small resource or tracking implementation used to signal that a page was viewed or an event occurred. In advertising and analytics, the term can also refer broadly to a platform's website tracking code, even when it relies on scripts rather than a literal one-pixel image. A handyman site might use a platform's tracking implementation to measure an inquiry-related action, subject to appropriate consent and privacy requirements. Pixel data may be incomplete because of browser restrictions, blocked requests, or configuration errors. A tracking pixel differs from a visible image and from the broader practice of event tracking. Installation alone does not guarantee accurate or lawful measurement.
