Text Spacing (WCAG)
Text spacing in the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) concerns whether people can adjust certain line, paragraph, letter, and word spacing without losing content or functionality.
Text spacing under WCAG 2.2 Success Criterion 1.4.12 (Level AA) concerns whether text in supported markup remains readable and functional when users override its spacing. For the specified test, line height can be set to at least 1.5 times the font size, spacing after paragraphs to at least 2 times the font size, letter spacing to at least 0.12 times the font size, and word spacing to at least 0.16 times the font size. These are override values for testing adaptability, not default spacing every site must impose. A service page can fail if fixed-height cards clip words or buttons when spacing increases. Test navigation, form labels, help text, and mobile layouts for lost content or functionality. Meeting this one criterion does not establish complete WCAG conformance.
