Text Resizing
Text resizing lets people enlarge website copy to suit their vision, reading conditions, or device preferences.
Text resizing lets people enlarge website copy to suit their vision, reading conditions, or device preferences. WCAG 2.2 Success Criterion 1.4.4 (Level AA) generally requires text, except captions and images of text, to be resizable up to 200% without losing content or functionality. A home services site should still let a visitor read service details, understand labels, and submit a contact form after increasing text size. Flexible layouts, relative text sizing, and practical browser tests help avoid clipped text or overlapping controls. The separate Reflow criterion considers whether content can be read without unnecessary two-direction scrolling at specified narrow viewport sizes; a site should test resizing and reflow rather than treating them as identical checks. Meeting one text-related criterion alone does not establish complete accessibility or legal compliance.
