Task Success Rate

Task success rate measures the percentage of people who complete a specified task during a usability study or another clearly defined evaluation.

Task success rate measures the percentage of people who complete a specified task during a usability study or another clearly defined evaluation. Researchers might ask participants to find a handyman company's emergency contact method and record how many succeed without assistance. The task, conditions, and definition of success must be agreed on before testing. This is different from a production website's form completion rate, which measures observed form outcomes rather than success in a controlled usability task. A good result also does not reveal whether the process was frustrating; completion time, errors, and participant feedback can provide useful context.
