Status Page

A status page is a public or restricted page that communicates the current condition of a digital service and its incidents.

A status page gives users a place to check whether a digital service is operating normally. It may show the condition of specific components, current incidents, maintenance notices and previous disruptions. During an outage, useful updates explain what is affected, what is being investigated and when another update is expected.

A status page is a communications tool, not a replacement for uptime monitoring or an incident response plan. It may be manually updated or connected to alerting systems, but it can become misleading if no one is responsible for posting accurate changes. The best status information avoids declaring a service fully restored while major features remain unavailable.

Businesses should consider where to host the page, how customers will find it when the main website is unavailable, and whether any information needs to remain private. A service provider might maintain a public status page for customer-facing booking systems and a private page for staff-only operations.
