SSL Certificate
An SSL certificate is the common name for a digital certificate used to help establish an authenticated HTTPS connection.
An SSL certificate is the common name for a digital certificate used to help establish an authenticated HTTPS connection. Modern browsers actually use TLS, the successor to the older SSL protocols, to protect information traveling between a visitor and a website. This matters when someone sends details through a service request form or browses pages on a public network. A valid certificate supports encrypted transport and server identity checks, but it does not prove that a company is reputable, that the site is free of malicious code, or that submitted information is handled safely afterward. HTTPS is essential security plumbing, not a complete security program.
