SSL Certificate Renewal

SSL certificate renewal is the process of replacing or extending a site's digital certificate before it expires so browsers can continue establishing trusted HTTPS connections.

SSL certificate renewal is the process of replacing or extending a site's digital certificate before it expires so browsers can continue establishing trusted HTTPS connections. Although the familiar term says SSL, modern browser connections generally use TLS. Renewal is often automated by the hosting provider, but failed validation, incorrect configuration, or missing monitoring can still cause certificate warnings. A cleaning company's booking form should not become inaccessible because a certificate silently expired. Certificate renewal is different from domain renewal, which maintains registration of the web address. Administrators should monitor certificate status, confirm automated renewals actually succeed, and test HTTPS after significant server or DNS changes.
