Squarespace

Squarespace is a hosted website platform that provides tools for building, publishing and managing websites through a managed service.

Squarespace is one option for a company that wants to build a site without operating its own web server. It provides an editing environment, design features and available commercial integrations under its own product plans. The precise features, fees and constraints can change, so a buyer should check current documentation for the plan and region rather than treat a dated feature list as permanent.

The trade-off is between convenience and control. Hosted infrastructure removes some routine server management from the customer, but the site owner still needs to manage content, access, domain settings, legal notices, analytics and business data. Exportability, redirect control, templates, integrations and future migration deserve attention before choosing a platform.

This is a product term, not a synonym for responsive design or website hosting in general. A designer comparing Squarespace with self-hosted WordPress, for example, should evaluate the specific work the business needs and who will support it over time. A hosted site is not inherently more searchable or secure simply because hosting is bundled.
