Social media profile verification is a platform-specific process that may confirm identity, account authenticity, or eligibility for a particular badge or service. The meaning is not uniform across networks and products. For example, Meta introduced Facebook Verified in July 2026 as a free, phased, selfie-based verification for eligible adult personal Facebook profiles; that specific program does not apply to Facebook Pages or Professional Mode accounts. It should not be confused with Meta Verified subscription offerings for eligible accounts or businesses, or with Google Business Profile verification of a business listing. A badge does not establish professional competence, endorse the account's commercial claims, or guarantee higher organic reach. A local service business should examine the current eligibility rules, supported account type, geographic rollout, cost if any, and security implications before applying. Never interpret a badge as proof that all posted information is accurate.
