Skip Navigation Link

A skip navigation link lets people move past repeated material, such as a website's header and main menu, and reach the primary content more directly.

A skip navigation link lets people move past repeated material, such as a website's header and main menu, and reach the primary content more directly. It is particularly useful for keyboard users who would otherwise have to tab through the same links on every page. The link is often placed near the beginning of the document and may become visible when it receives keyboard focus. On a service website with a long navigation menu, this can make reaching repair information or a quote form less tedious. Keyboard navigation is the larger topic of using a site without a mouse; a skip link is one specific aid. The destination must work correctly when activated.
