Session default channel group is a GA4 dimension that classifies sessions into predefined acquisition categories, such as Organic Search, Direct, Referral, or Paid Search, based on Google's channel definitions and available signals. A handyman business can use it to compare session-level traffic sources over a selected period. The word 'session' matters: this is not the same as the first user default channel group, which describes the source associated with a user's initial acquisition. Channel assignments can change with tagging, attribution rules, and product updates. A channel label alone does not say whether the visitor contacted the business or became a paying customer.
