Service-Area Business Schema

Service-area business schema is structured data that describes a service provider and the geographic areas where it offers services.

Service-area business schema is a descriptive use of Schema.org vocabulary, not a separate Google-issued certification or a magic markup type. A business can describe the provider with an appropriate Organization or LocalBusiness subtype and represent its services using Service properties. Schema.org defines areaServed to indicate where a service or offered item is available; the markup should reflect what the page visibly says and what the business actually offers.

For a plumber who visits customers rather than receiving them at a storefront, the site might identify the company, telephone, service types, and actual service geography. Use specific, supportable locations instead of a huge invented list of towns. Validate syntax and compare the proposed data with Google's current supported structured-data features. A Schema.org property can be valid vocabulary without being a Google rich-result feature.

Adding JSON-LD cannot verify a Google Business Profile, replace Google's business eligibility rules, compel map rankings, or prevent a listing suspension. This term is narrower than Service Schema: it emphasizes the relationship between a mobile service provider and the territory served, whereas Service Schema can describe many kinds of services regardless of location.
