Search Result Breadcrumbs

Search result breadcrumbs are hierarchical URL trails Google may show on desktop results; it stopped showing these trails in mobile results in 2025.

Search result breadcrumbs are a short representation of a webpage's place in a site's hierarchy that Google may display with a listing on desktop search results. Google removed breadcrumb trails from the visible URL element of mobile search results in January 2025; mobile results instead show the domain in that position. A landscaping service page might still have useful on-page breadcrumbs such as Home, Services, and Landscape Maintenance, whether or not Google chooses to show a corresponding trail in desktop results. BreadcrumbList structured data can help Google understand the hierarchy and remains supported for desktop presentation, but valid markup does not guarantee a particular visual result. On-page breadcrumb navigation, breadcrumb structured data, and a search-result breadcrumb are related yet distinct. This concept concerns site organization and search presentation rather than the total number of internal links to a page.
