Search engine crawling is the process by which automated programs request web pages and discover links and other resources. A crawler might find a handyman company's new service page through navigation, an existing page, or a submitted sitemap. Crawling is only one step in search: a page that has been fetched is not necessarily indexed or shown in results. Technical restrictions, broken links, server problems, and other factors can affect access. Clear internal links and working URLs help discovery, while Search Console can provide diagnostic information about Google's activity. Publishing a page or including it in a sitemap does not obligate Google to crawl it immediately.
