Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG)

Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) is an image format that describes shapes and lines using XML-based vector data. SVG artwork can remain sharp at different sizes, making it useful for logos, simple illustrations, and icons. A service company's logo may look clearer as SVG than as a small raster image enlarged beyond its original dimensions. SVG is not automatically the best format for photographs, and files can contain active content that requires careful handling. Accessible labels may also be needed when a graphic communicates information. Choose image formats according to the artwork, performance needs, and how the graphic is used.
