Progressive Enhancement
Progressive enhancement is a development approach that starts with a usable foundation and adds advanced features when a browser or device supports them.
Progressive enhancement is a development approach that starts with a usable foundation and adds advanced features when a browser or device supports them. A basic contact form, for example, can remain functional even if an optional animation or JavaScript enhancement fails. This makes important tasks more resilient across devices, network conditions, and assistive technologies. Progressive enhancement is not the same as progressive disclosure, which reveals information to users in stages. It also does not eliminate the need to test the enhanced experience for accessibility, speed, and consistent form behavior.
