Progressive Disclosure

Progressive disclosure is a user experience approach that presents essential information first and reveals additional options only when they become relevant.

Progressive disclosure is a user experience approach that presents essential information first and reveals additional options only when they become relevant. A service quote form may begin with the type of work needed, then ask repair-specific questions after the customer selects a category. This can reduce clutter without removing important details. It is not the same as hiding critical fees, requirements, or service restrictions until the final step. Customers should be able to understand the decision they are making at each stage. Progressive disclosure works best when revealed controls remain easy to find, use, and navigate with a keyboard or assistive technology.
