Plugin Conflict
A plugin conflict occurs when two software extensions, or an extension and a theme, interact in a way that breaks expected website behavior.
WordPress plugin conflicts may cause failed forms, layout changes, missing functions or serious site errors after installation or updates. A conflict is different from a single defective plugin: the issue may appear only when two components run together. Overlapping scripts, duplicate features and incompatible assumptions can contribute, but an error message alone does not prove which plugin is responsible.
The safer diagnostic approach is to back up the site, record the failure and reproduce it on staging where possible. Test suspected plugins individually, then in combination; check theme involvement, version compatibility and relevant error logs. Disabling random production extensions can interrupt essential services, so plan any live change carefully and preserve a rollback path.
Plugin conflict is a troubleshooting condition, not a plugin type or an automatic reason to delete a component. Confirm which combination triggers the error and contact maintainers with reproducible details. Security, payment and contact-form functions deserve especially careful verification after changes.
