Pinterest Rich Pin

A Pinterest Rich Pin displays structured information drawn from a linked website, such as article details, product data or recipe information.

Pinterest Rich Pins use page metadata to supplement an ordinary Pin. Supported formats include article, product and recipe information, with different fields relevant to each. Rich information can be associated with the destination page independently of the creator-written description. Adding supported metadata helps Pinterest interpret the page, but it does not guarantee a particular display on every surface.

A publisher should use accurate Open Graph or Schema.org markup appropriate to the page. Article metadata may provide title and author information, while product data can include current price and availability when eligibility requirements are met. Keep the destination page and markup consistent; outdated or misleading information makes the richer preview less useful to visitors.

A Rich Pin is a particular metadata-enhanced form of a Pinterest Pin, not a replacement for a Pin or a promise of higher distribution. The editorial decision to create a separate glossary entry depends on whether the technical metadata and supported categories provide meaningful scope beyond the site's existing general Pinterest Pin definition.
