People-First Content
People-first content is created mainly to answer an audience’s real questions or needs, rather than primarily to attract search traffic.
People-first content is information designed for a particular audience and a useful purpose. Google Search Central frames the distinction around whether content genuinely helps visitors rather than existing principally to manipulate rankings. A useful page makes its subject clear, answers likely follow-up questions, and gives readers enough context to act or make an informed decision.
This does not mean ignoring SEO. Descriptive headings, relevant internal links, and clear page structure can make helpful work easier to discover. The problem is creating pages that add little value, repeat search phrases without explanation, or promise answers they do not deliver. A glossary entry should define a term accurately, explain where it matters, show a realistic example, and clarify any limitations or common confusion.
Quality is not determined by a fixed word count or by simply saying a page is 'helpful.' Judge it against the reader’s task, factual accuracy, originality, and the availability of better existing pages. Review content when the underlying topic changes, not merely to refresh a displayed date.
