Outbound Click Tracking (GA4)

Outbound click tracking in GA4 records clicks on links that take someone from a measured site to another domain when the relevant enhanced measurement feature can detect them.

GA4 outbound click tracking uses enhanced measurement to record clicks on links that lead away from the current domain. The click event can include information such as the destination URL and domain, but it does not tell a small business whether a visitor completed an appointment or payment on the destination site. Google does not treat links to domains configured for cross-domain measurement as outbound click events in this feature. For example, a cleaning company's booking link to an external scheduling site may register as an outbound click, while an appropriately configured cross-domain journey may be measured differently. Test the actual link and its event parameters, particularly for custom buttons, embedded forms and partner systems. If the business needs downstream outcomes, the destination may require additional measurement integration and permission.
