Nulled Plugin
A nulled plugin is a redistributed or modified copy of a typically commercial plugin whose licensing or activation controls have been removed.
Nulled WordPress plugins can appear to offer paid functionality without a valid license. The distribution source may be untrusted, and a modified package may contain additional code that the original developer did not supply. That creates risks involving malware, hidden access, credential theft or malicious redirects, although not every unlicensed copy can be assumed infected without evidence.
Installing plugins from a reputable, verifiable source and keeping them updated reduces supply-chain uncertainty. Before evaluating an existing suspicious plugin, preserve backups and identify the origin of its files; removing it without understanding dependencies can also interrupt website functionality. A security review may require integrity checks, access-log analysis and credential rotation if compromise is suspected.
The term is a risky distribution practice, not a special WordPress plugin type or a synonym for every free plugin. Legitimate open-source or free editions are not automatically “nulled.” Legal and licensing questions depend on the actual copyright terms, while the security issue is whether the delivered code can be trusted and maintained.
