Money-Back Guarantee Copy
Money-back guarantee copy is wording that explains a refund promise, its genuine conditions, limitations, and how customers can make a claim.
Money-back guarantee copy explains what a customer can expect if the offered product or service does not meet the stated conditions. Clear wording identifies what purchase is covered, how to request a refund, which conditions apply, and which exclusions are material. It should reflect an actual policy that the business can honor rather than a badge chosen solely to improve conversions.
A company selling a one-time digital planning product may offer a defined refund period and a simple request channel. A local installation service could have materially different legal and operational limits, so a generic e-commerce phrase should not be copied into a service contract. U.S. Federal Trade Commission guidance warns that offering a money-back guarantee does not replace evidence for advertising claims and that material conditions should be disclosed. Other federal, state, or industry-specific obligations may apply.
Editors should compare copy across the landing page, checkout, terms, and support scripts so the promise is not contradicted at the point of sale. Avoid burying important conditions in text customers cannot reasonably find, and never claim “no questions asked” if the actual process imposes hurdles. The concept concerns persuasive and accurate expression of a refund policy. It is distinct from a broad Service Guarantee, which may promise repairs, workmanship, response times, or other remedies rather than money back.
