Modeled Conversions

Modeled conversions are statistical estimates used in measurement platforms to account for conversion activity that cannot be directly observed.

Measurement can lose visibility when users do not grant tracking consent, technology restricts identifiers or a journey spans devices. Google Analytics 4 describes modeled key events that estimate unobserved activity using patterns from observable data and other permitted inputs. In Google’s current terminology, a key event is an important action measured in Analytics; conversions may be created or reported in linked advertising contexts.

Modeling is not the same as recovering the identity or exact behavior of a particular person. Eligibility and methodology depend on the platform, data quality and settings, including consent mode. Reports may combine observed and modeled data, and some values can be revised after processing. Businesses should keep their measurement design and consent implementation documented.

A modeled total is an estimate, not a transaction ledger. Compare it with confirmed CRM bookings or orders where available, and avoid promising that modeled reports will reproduce every untracked sale. This differs from a basic conversion rate calculation, which divides observed or reported actions by a stated denominator.
