Modal Dialog

A modal dialog is a window that opens above a page and temporarily requires attention before the visitor returns to the surrounding content.

A modal dialog is a window that opens above a page and temporarily requires attention before the visitor returns to the surrounding content. It might display a booking confirmation, a form, or important choices. When a modal is active, other page controls should not be accidentally accessible, and keyboard focus should remain inside until the dialog closes. A clear title and an obvious way to dismiss it help visitors understand what is happening. A modal is not simply any promotional pop-up: it describes a particular interaction pattern. Overusing dialogs can interrupt visitors who only want to compare repair services or find a phone number.
