Mobile-First Design
Mobile-first design means planning the smallest practical screen experience before expanding the layout for tablets and desktops.
Mobile-first design means planning the smallest practical screen experience before expanding the layout for tablets and desktops. This forces a team to decide which information matters most when space is limited. A handyman's site, for instance, may put services, location coverage, and a call option ahead of decorative sections. Additional details can appear as screen space grows. Mobile-first is a design and development approach, not a promise that mobile visitors will convert or that Google will rank the site higher. A mobile-first site can also be responsive, but the terms are not interchangeable: one describes where the design process starts; the other describes how the layout adapts.
