Missed-Call Text-Back
Missed-call text-back is an automated workflow that sends a text response after an inbound business call is unanswered.
Missed-call text-back systems detect an unanswered inbound call and may send a message acknowledging the attempted contact or directing the caller to a booking option. The goal is to reduce communication gaps, especially when a small team cannot answer while working in the field. A text reply is not evidence that a customer has agreed to receive ongoing marketing.
A useful system distinguishes customer-service follow-up from promotions, avoids repeated messages to the same caller, and routes urgent needs to an appropriate channel. Business teams should record when a response was sent and provide a clear path for a person to take over the conversation. Automated messages must respect applicable consent, opt-out, carrier and state rules; these obligations vary with the message and delivery method.
The feature should be evaluated using genuine answered follow-ups or booked jobs, not merely the number of messages sent. A fast automatic message can still frustrate a caller if it promises an appointment that staff cannot provide.
