Meta Description

A meta description is a short summary placed in a webpage's HTML metadata. Search engines may draw on it to generate the description beneath a result, but Google can choose a different excerpt from the page when that better matches the query. A useful description tells a reader what they can expect, such as the scope of a deck-repair service page or the question an article answers. It should be specific and readable rather than packed with repeated search phrases. The meta description is not the main page copy, and writing one does not guarantee a particular search ranking or click-through rate.
