Local Search Relevance
Local search relevance describes how closely a business profile matches a person's location-related search and stated service need.
Relevance is one of the main considerations Google describes for local search results, alongside distance and prominence. In this setting, relevance means how well the information associated with a Business Profile corresponds to what someone is looking for. A search for emergency furnace repair should be matched with a business that actually provides that service, rather than with an unrelated nearby company.
Businesses can improve the clarity of their public information by using accurate primary and additional categories where eligible, maintaining complete descriptions, and clearly listing their real services. Their websites should explain the work they offer and the locations they legitimately serve. These actions make a profile more useful and understandable, but they do not purchase or guarantee a specific local pack ranking.
Relevance differs from distance, which concerns the relationship between the searcher and the business, and from prominence, which concerns how well known a business is. Google does not disclose a formula that translates an individual edit into a fixed ranking improvement.
