Local Pack Justifications

Local pack justifications are contextual snippets sometimes shown in map-based local search results to explain a result's apparent match with a query.

A local pack justification is a short piece of supporting context that can appear with a business in Google's map-oriented local results. Depending on the search interface and available information, a snippet might highlight a service phrase or another relevant detail. Its purpose is to help a searcher understand why a business may fit the query; it should not be treated as a standalone ranking factor.

Businesses cannot reliably choose which justification appears, and some searches do not show one at all. Accurate Business Profile information, useful service descriptions, and genuine customer feedback remain valuable without any promise that a particular phrase will be highlighted. Justifications also should not be confused with the entire local pack, the local result's ranking position, or third-party review snippets.

Google documents that business information and customer-review text may be used in some summary and snippet experiences. However, the exact local pack justification formats and triggers are not fully covered by the primary guidance reviewed here. This entry therefore describes the general display concept without claiming a guaranteed feature or optimization method.
