Local Citation

A local citation is a mention of a business's identifying information on another website, commonly in a directory, business listing, or local organization page. It may include the business name, phone number, website, and, when appropriate, an address. For a landscaping company, citations can help customers confirm that a listing refers to the correct business. Their usefulness depends on the source's relevance and accuracy, not simply on accumulating the largest possible number of listings. Some service-area businesses should not publish a home or private address. A citation is also different from a backlink: a listing can mention the business without linking to its website.
