Lean Startup Methodology
Lean Startup is an approach to developing a business through testable assumptions, rapid learning cycles and decisions informed by customer evidence.
Lean Startup emphasizes validated learning over spending months building a complete offering before testing demand. Its build-measure-learn loop starts with a meaningful assumption, creates the smallest useful test, measures what happens and uses the evidence to decide whether to change direction or continue. The minimum viable product (MVP) is a learning instrument, not necessarily a stripped-down or poor-quality product.
A business should define the hypothesis and decision threshold before launching an experiment. Meaningful evidence may include observed use, interviews, willingness to pay and customer retention, depending on the question. Vanity metrics such as raw website visits can look impressive while revealing little about whether customers receive value.
Lean Startup does not require every organization to launch unfinished public products. For a regulated or safety-sensitive service, early learning may happen through prototypes, simulations or limited research instead. The goal is to reduce uncertainty while protecting trust, quality and compliance.
