Key Event (GA4)
A key event in Google Analytics 4 is an event a site or app owner marks as especially important to their objectives.
A key event in Google Analytics 4 (GA4) is an event selected because it represents an action important to a business. For a home service website, a successful quote-form submission could be marked as a key event. A phone-link click may also be tracked, but it does not confirm that the person completed a call or scheduled work. An event can be marked as a key event even before GA4 begins collecting it; key-event reporting reflects qualifying events once they occur. A key event is not automatically a Google Ads conversion or a paying customer. To interpret results responsibly, businesses should test event setup and compare reported actions with actual inquiries and sales.
