Influencer Brief
An influencer brief is a written agreement-supporting document that explains a brand’s campaign objective, deliverables, audience and creative requirements to a creator.
An influencer brief helps a creator understand what a business is asking for without dictating a fictional personal opinion. It usually covers the audience, key message, product or service facts, requested formats, deadlines, review contacts and rights to reuse or edit the work. When a creator visits a business location or films other people, the brief should specify safety, access and permission requirements.
Disclosure and truthfulness are not optional design details. In the United States, the FTC’s endorsement guidance explains that material connections such as payment or free products can require clear, conspicuous disclosure. A brief should explain that expectation and avoid promises the advertiser cannot substantiate. A platform’s built-in disclosure label may not always be sufficient by itself.
The document is not synonymous with influencer marketing as a channel, nor does it replace a properly reviewed contract covering fees, ownership, cancellation and usage rights. A good brief protects factual accuracy while allowing the creator to use their genuine voice. Brands can check deliverables and compliance without demanding scripted praise or censoring honest experience.
