Geotagging

Geotagging means associating digital content with geographic information, such as a named place or location coordinates.

Geotagging means associating digital content with geographic information, such as a named place or location coordinates. Social platforms may allow a person to attach a location label to a post; photographs can also contain embedded location metadata depending on device settings. A landscaping company might use a broad city label for a project photo when it is accurate and appropriate. Exact property locations, however, can raise customer privacy concerns and should not be shared without permission. Geotagging is different from defining service areas in Google Business Profile or declaring where a company operates on its website. A location tag alone does not guarantee local search visibility or audience reach.
