Form Error Summary

A form error summary is a consolidated explanation of problems that prevented a form from being completed successfully. It usually appears near the start of the form and identifies which fields need attention, with helpful links or references to those fields when possible. On a quote request form, the summary might explain that an email address is invalid and a required service choice is missing. Form validation determines whether values meet rules; the error summary communicates problems in a way users can act on. Individual field messages may still be necessary. Clear language, keyboard access, and appropriate announcements help visitors recover without repeatedly guessing what went wrong.
