Form Data Persistence

Form data persistence means keeping information someone has already entered when a web form is interrupted, navigated between steps, or returns an error.

Form data persistence means keeping information someone has already entered when a web form is interrupted, navigated between steps, or returns an error. For a long service estimate form, losing the property address and job details after a failed submission can be frustrating. Persistence may involve temporary browser storage, session handling, or an appropriately designed backend, with safeguards for sensitive information. It does not mean every detail should be retained indefinitely or without notice. This differs from autofill, which supplies stored information to a field; persistence protects entries made during the current interaction.
