Follower Growth Rate

Follower growth rate shows the percentage change in an account’s follower count during a specified time period.

Follower growth rate describes how quickly an account’s audience count changes over time. A basic calculation is (followers at the end of the period minus followers at the start) divided by starting followers, multiplied by 100. This yields net growth: new followers minus unfollows. It can be negative when an account loses more followers than it gains.

Suppose an electrician’s profile moves from 2,000 followers to 2,100 in one month. Net growth is 100 and the rate is 5% for that month. Reporting only the percentage can mislead when small accounts gain a handful of followers, so show the starting base, net change, time period, and any paid promotion alongside the rate. Platform dashboards may calculate follower changes or date boundaries differently.

Follower growth rate does not measure whether the audience consists of potential customers or whether posts generate bookings. Compare it with engagement quality, referral traffic, and meaningful inquiries. Bots, giveaways, and broad viral content can raise follower counts without adding commercial value. For a local service provider, relevance by geography and customer need may matter more than raw volume. The metric is descriptive, not proof of content effectiveness.
