Focus Management

Focus management is the way a website directs and restores keyboard focus as people move through an interface. When a booking dialog opens, focus may need to move inside it; when the dialog closes, focus should generally return to a logical place. Poor focus management can leave keyboard and screen reader users unsure where they are or unable to continue. It is related to focus order, which concerns the sequence of navigation, but also covers changes caused by dynamic interactions. A visible focus indicator remains important. Test real tasks with a keyboard instead of assuming a component is accessible because it looks correct with a mouse.
